The 1st Joint Conference of the Fora of Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce, Cities and Universities took place in Split from 16 to 18 October 2018. The three fora that gathered in this Conference (Forum of Chambers of Commerce, Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Cities, and the UniAdrion network of universities) represent a network of more than 120 bodies and institutions from eight countries, and have been identified as key stakeholders within the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR), home to more than 70 million people.
The Conference was organized by the Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce, the Croatian Chamber of Economy, and CCE County Chamber Split. The event was held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia and five Croatian ministries (Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Tourism, and Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure), and with the support of the AI-NURECC initiative and the European Commission.
The Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia gladly accepted organizer’s invitation to actively participate in the Conference. A representative of the HHI, Marko Mlinar, gave a presentation of two IPA projects (JASPPer and CoRE) with the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia and the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Seismology of Montenegro as leading partners.
Blue Growth is the European Commission initiative concerning the use of seas and oceans of the European Union and creating new jobs and values, with due respect for the principle of sustainability. The examples of JASPPer and CoRE projects served to present the HHI capacities for the preparation of a project and successful leadership of a team of partner institutions within Blue Growth, not only in Croatia but also through participation in EU projects together with institutions from several countries.
