3rd Croatian NSDI ans INSPIRE Day and 7th Cartography and Geoinformation Conference was held in Split, 14-16 September 2011, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy, organised by the Croatian Cartographic Society and the State Geodetic Administration.
Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia was co-organizer of the event. The conference had 180 participants.
Conference topics:
- Framework of the INSPIRE Directive transposition and establishing SDI in neighbouring states
- Framework of the INSPIRE Directive transposition and establishing SDI in Croatia
- Solutions for NSDI implementation in state, regional and local governmental bodies.
Conference included 11 invited lectures, and 24 presentations on the subject of cartography and geoinformation with practical themes in the above mentioned fields.
Željko Bradarić, Assistant Director for International Cooperation and Safety of Navigation, gave a presentation on the theme “Marine Pollution Risk and Sensitivity Assessments - GIS Option” (authors: Ž. Bradarić, N. Mladineo, M. Mladineo).
First day Conference programme included visits to the Map Archive of Istria and Dalmatia, Croatian Maritime Museum, and Museum of the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia.
Final day Conference programme offered an excursion tour to the island of Vis by the Croatian Navy ship “A. Mohorovičić”.
George Gartner, President of the International Cartographic Association, visited the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia (out of protocol). On that occasion, besides Museum collections, he got acquainted with the cartographic activity of the Institute as well.
